The NHS is facing huge financial and operational pressures.  It has been said that several years of funding restraint and rising demand for services has meant that it is increasingly difficult for NHS services to maintain standards of care. Trust Boards will need representatives of their communities to help them make the right choices for their localities and for the staff, patients and their families to feel that everyone is working together to help them when they need it.

I believe I can demonstrate the NHS Values whilst carrying out the role of Governor.  I have worked within the NHS during my years as a student. I already serve my Parish as a Councillor and am a Trustee of a charity which seeks to assist underprivileged communities in Basildon gain greater life skills. I am employed as a Bid Writer for a construction company working in social housing, providing me with expert knowledge of procurement processes on public sector contracts.   I enjoy the responsibilities these bring and in participating in decision making.

I believe in life-long learning and am currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and Foreign Policy, which is enhancing my analytical skills in particular.

I bring enthusiasm and energy to this role which will be needed to deliver the local Sustainability and Transformation Plan the Board will be overseeing.  I believe passionately in the NHS but understand it must become more integrated with social care so people can benefit from treatment nearer to their home.
