COVID-19 vaccinations – you do not need to wait until you are invited

October 15, 2021

From today, Friday 15 October 2021, local people no longer have to wait to receive an invitation from the NHS to have their COVID-19 booster vaccination.

Now, anyone who is in an eligible group who had their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine 182 or more days ago can attend a walk-in clinic or book their appointment via the NHS website or call 119 for their booster vaccination.

Previously, people had to wait to receive a letter or text from the NHS saying they were eligible.

People are eligible for a booster 182 days after receiving their second dose. Eligible groups include those aged 50 years and over, frontline volunteers and health and social care staff, people with severely weakened immune systems and their resident household contacts and those aged under 50 with an underlying health condition.

Please note we will unfortunately be unable to give anyone a booster if less than 182 days have passed since you had your second dose. If you turn up at a walk-in clinic and you have not reached 182 days since your second dose you will be turned away and will need to return once you reach 182 days.
