5 Ways to Wellbeing

Essex County Council (ECC) have launched a new campaign highlighting five steps that residents can follow to keep them well, both in body and mind.

The 5 Ways to Wellbeing are:

Be Active – recently launched. About promoting keeping active and healthy. It is about showing that you don’t have to go the the gym but things like taking a walk, cycling or gardening can be of benefit to your health.

Take Notice – about being more aware of the present moment including thoughts and feelings, your body and the world around you. Some people call this ‘mindfulness’ and it can positively change the way you feel about life and how you approach challenges. Launching in July/August.

Keep Learning – this can give you a sense of achievement and a new confidence. Launching in September/October.

Give – shows that even the smallest act can count. Whether it’s a smile, a thank you or a kind word. Larger acts, such as volunteering can improve your mental wellbeing and help you build new social networks. Launching November/December.

Connect – this means connecting with people around you, your family, friends colleagues and neighbours and spend time developing these relationships. Launching January/February.
