Frequently asked questions
Where do the volunteering opportunities come from?
Volunteering opportunities come from the service managers across the Trust.
How much time do I need to give?
It is up to you how much time you would like to give. Some volunteering may require several hours a week, some only a few hours each month.
How long will I have to commit for?
You can commit for as long as you wish. As a volunteer you are free to leave whenever you like. If things do not work out or your circumstances were to change it’s good to talk it through with the service manager and give them some notice if possible.
What skills will I need?
You do not need any particular skills to be a volunteer but any skills you may have could be beneficial.
Will I get my out of pocket expenses paid?
You will be reimbursed any expenses that are necessary for you to take part in the project e.g., travelling to and from the project site. All expenses must be agreed in advance with the service manager and appropriate documentation submitted to support the claim.
What can I expect once I have registered with EPUT volunteering?
You should hear back from the Trust volunteering team once you have registered within ten working days. They should confirm that they have received your details and are happy to answer any further questions.
What if I can’t find an opportunity that I like?
If you are unable to find an opportunity that you like, please contact the Trust volunteering team who will increase the range of the type of work you could consider. Ask the team to send you a full list of what is available before narrowing it down.
What can I expect as a volunteer?
As a volunteer you can expect a clear idea of what your role will be, what appropriate training and support will be provided.
If you are not clear about anything, or feel in any way uncomfortable about what you have been asked to do, do not be afraid to contact the Trust volunteering team.
Can I volunteer if I have a disability?
Yes of course you can; EPUT have disabled volunteers in all kinds of roles. If you have particular concerns, or are unable to find an opportunity, contact the Trust volunteering team who will be very happy to help you
