Meet Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trusts new Freedom To Speak Up Principal Guardian Yogeeta MohurJanuary 31, 2020
As voted for by her peers, Chief Executive Sally Morris announced Yogeeta Mohur as the newly elected Trust’s Principal Guardian.
Yogeeta a registered nurse working in the Trust’s Access and Assessment Team is passionate about the Freedom to Speak Up agenda and is keen encourage a ‘speak up ‘ culture within the Trust leading to opportunities to learn and improve. During her time as Principle Guardian Yogeeta wants to ensure staff know how to raise a concern and for them to know they are then listened to.
‘I believe in creating a culture where workers feel safe and able to speak up about anything that gets in the way of delivering safe, high quality care or affects their experience in the workplace.’
The introduction of Freedom to Speak Guardians and Principle is a key recommendation from Sir Robert Francis’s report into the culture of raising concerns within the NHS, published in February 2015 ensuring NHS staff feel confident in raising concerns.
Thursday 6 February is Time to Talk Day, a day for encouraging colleagues to talk about their mental health in a safe and open environment. Alongside the Trust’s Equality Advisor, Gary Brisco, Yogeeta will be visiting a number of Trust locations to meet with staff to talk about the support available to them.
