Essex Mental Health Independent Inquiry

About the inquiry

The Essex Mental Health Inquiry will be chaired by Dr Geraldine Strathdee. It will review inpatient mental health deaths from 1 January 2000 to 31 December 2020 at the former North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (NEP), the former South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT) and EPUT, which took over following the merger in 2017.

It invites families, friends and carers of inpatients who died across NHS Trusts in Essex between 2000 and 2020 to share any information they feel is relevant to the inquiry. Anyone else with experience of inpatient mental health care in Essex between these dates is also able to give evidence.
