Mental health wellbeing day

A specialist mental health team who support people in the community organised a wellbeing day for service users and their carers to try holistic therapies.

Our specialist community forensic team, working in collaboration with charity Phoenix Futures, offered therapies including mindfulness, art therapy and meditation.

Service manager Gemma Leigh, from Phoenix Futures, said: “We also offered a taster session in acupuncture, which can be used to relieve pain, calm the mind and can reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings for people who are coming off drugs.”

Twelve service users and two carers attended the session at Quaker House, Chelmsford, on 14 December.

They also took part in discussions to let staff know their thoughts on the specialist community forensic team service and what they would like to see more of.

Their feedback will help the team shape the service to best meet the needs of the people they care for.
