What We Do Hertfordshire Valley
Following the success of the Food First project in Luton and Bedfordshire, the project expanded into Hertfordshire Valley in December 2015. The team supports older people care homes (with over 10 beds) in Dacorum, Hertsmere, St Albans & Harpenden and Watford & Three Rivers.
As with Luton and Bedfordshire, the Food First team provides training to care homes in Hertfordshire Valley, covering a range of subjects including how to screen for malnutrition, how to manage the risk of malnutrition and how to keep hydrated. The Food First certificate scheme also runs in Hertfordshire Valley, meaning that our team will regularly audit care homes on Food First standards, rewarding care homes with a Food First certificate where standards are met.
As this is a funded project, the Food First team collect outcomes before and after training and at yearly intervals in order to demonstrate the impact that our project is having in Hertfordshire Valley.
We do not take referrals for residents in in Hertfordshire Valley older people care homes. The clinical dietetic support in Hertfordshire Valley is provided by Hertfordshire Community NHS trust.
