Leg Ulcer Service
The service provides holistic assessment and treatment of leg ulcers for mobile patients in the community . Leg ulcer specialist nurses provide care within Leg Ulcer Clinics.
This service is based upon appointments and a referral must be received to access the service. In addition care is also provided at Southend Leg Club – this is a drop in club for people with lower leg problems and aims to offer advice and treatment within a social setting. Southend Leg Club is a joint initiative with the Leg Ulcer Nurses and volunteers, who help in the running of the club, provide peer support and social activities. Well Leg health promotion is offered at both Leg Club and clinics to reduce risks of ulcer recurrence. The Service consists of Registered Nurses who have undergone extensive training in the field of leg ulcer management, treatment and prevention and its associated complications.
