Thousands of appointments made available in Big Weekend vaccine pushJune 25, 2021
Over 18s are being invited to book their Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine at Chelmsford City Racecourse.
This weekend (26 and 27 June) Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) Vaccination Programme have arranged thousands of pre-bookable appointments at the vaccination centre at Chelmsford City Racecourse.
Anyone over 18 can pre-book their first or second appointment on the national booking system and have their vaccine from 8am-8pm on either day. Anyone age over 40 who would like to bring their second dose forward from 12 to eight weeks can also pre-book.
The vaccination centre is also opening its doors to people over the age of 40 who would prefer to walk in and have their AstraZeneca first or second dose.
Melissa Dowdeswell, Director of Nursing and Clinical Governance and Operational Director for MSE Covid vaccination sites, said: “We have opened a significant amount of AstraZeneca and Pfizer appointments over the weekend to allow as many people as we can to pre-book an appointment and have either their first or second dose.
“It is a great opportunity for people who are able to bring their appointments forward to eight weeks and for anyone who yet to get a vaccine to come along and get one.
“I think it is fantastic we are able offer so many extra appointments in order to vaccinate our local community. Thank you to our volunteers and staff, who are constantly on hand to ensure everyone’s safety and for all to have the best experience possible.”
Everyone turning up for their first dose must either bring their NHS number with them or alternatively ID with proof of their age, for example a driving licence or passport. If you’re arriving for your second dose, please bring your first dose appointment card with you that shows the vaccine you were given. If you don’t have this, please make sure to bring your NHS number.
Please be aware with the walk in appointments that there might be a wait while we make sure everyone is vaccinated safely and in line with social distancing rules, the walk in appointments will close when all the vaccines available on the day have been given.
