Trust awarded national quality mark for preceptorship
Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) has been awarded the National Preceptorship Interim Quality Mark for providing a high standard of preceptorship for newly qualified nurses.
Preceptorship is a structured programme for newly qualified practitioners and those returning to professional practice, which enables them to have a smooth transition in their new team and place of work.
All newly registered nurses and allied health professionals, nursing associates, and midwives should undertake preceptorship in their first year after registration.
Preceptorship helps them put their knowledge into everyday practice, grow in confidence and competence, and have the best possible start to their careers.
EPUT was required to submit evidence to NHS England’s National Preceptorship Team to demonstrate it had met the standards for National Preceptorship Interim Quality Mark.
Allen Senivassen, Student Education Facilitator Lead and Lead for Preceptorship and Transitional Development Preceptorship, said: “We are delighted to receive the National Preceptorship Interim Quality Mark.
“Over the last year, our preceptorship team and practice colleagues have worked hard to strengthen EPUT’s preceptorship policy and programme to reflect the national preceptorship standards.
“We are pleased to say our programme is enabling many staff to have a smooth transition towards being able to work independently.
“Our senior practice colleagues are committed to delivering the programme to a high standard and supporting new recruits in their professional development.”
More than 300 preceptees are currently registered on our multi-professional preceptorship rolling programme and we look forward to welcoming around 20 new recruits each month.
They include nurses, allied health professionals, nursing associates and staff returning to professional practice.
