Podiatric Surgery - South East Essex

Summary

The scope of practice covered by Podiatric Surgery comprises all surgical procedures for the correction of deformity, the reduction in pain and improvement of function of the foot and associated structures. In reality this includes such conditions as: hammer toes, claw toes, bunions, Tailors bunions, metatarsalgia, flat foot, hypermobility and nail procedures for those who are unsuitable for chemical matricectomy.

Service Information

The main Health Related Groups (HRG’s) for Podiatric Surgery are H11 and H12.


Where the service is based

The non-surgical activity is carried out in community clinics and Hospitals.

The majority of the surgical activity for the south east and the south west is carried out at Orsett Hospital Day Surgery Unit.  West Essex outpatients is at Herts and Essex Community Hospital, Bishops Stortford and survey is undertaken in Facemed Private Day Hospital, Crays Hill, Billericay.
