Dr Raoof has more than 25 years of experience in treating long-term serious mental illnesses, especially psychosis and bipolar disorder. He is particularly interested in rehabilitation through collaborating with patients, their family and carers, and clinicians from a range of professional backgrounds.
He is also interested in the legal and ethical aspects of mental health practice, and is vice chair of the Mental Health Act Approval Panel for NHS Midlands and East of England.
As EPUT’s Director of Medical Education, Dr Raoof is actively involved in teaching, training and developing courses for doctors of all levels of experience and seniority, as well as other health and care professionals. He is an honorary Senior Lecturer at Norwich Medical School (University of East Anglia) and Anglia Ruskin University Medical School in Chelmsford.
Dr Raoof was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2016. He is the national lead for member training at the Royal College of Psychistrists Centre for Advanced Learning Conferences and Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Eastern Division.
