Ibraheem Lateef
Edwin Ugoh is a Staff Governor, representing clinical members of staff.
My name is Ibraheem Lateef and I became a Governor in October 2023. I have been working for Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) since 2019 as bank staff and employed as full time role in June 2020 during the Covid-19 to manage the care homes covering South East Essex supporting people with diagnosis of Dementia and Care Homes staff.
I have worked in mental health services NHS since 2008 at every level, commencing my mental health work experience as a student nurse at London Southbank University and have progressed to team leader with SEE Community Dementia & Older Adults CMHTs. I am passionate about mental health and care for older people living with dementia. Personally, I wanted to better understand the role of the Council of Governors within the trust.
Throughout my careers I have developed effective working relationships with key professionals across the services. Being a Governor offers further opportunities to develop these relationships, working in partnership to embed changes and good practice.
I enjoy being actively involved in developing the Trust’s engagement with those who are socially excluded and in ensuring public safety and supporting community staff in fulfilling the careering roles.
Lastly, working as a front-line NHS staff member, I wanted to have the opportunity to become a clinical staff governor who can represent the interests of the staff who care for Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) members and the public.
