Sue Ward
Sue Ward is a Public Governor for North East Essex and Suffolk.
I am a Queens Nurse since May 2016, as a recognition that I demonstrated a high level of commitment to patient-centred values and continually improving practice.
I am currently an advanced nurse practioner with an A&E department and a GP surgery and have a passion for community services.
I have previously worked as a Community Matron, District Nurse and ITU nurse and am an independent nurse prescriber.
I very passionate about the values of the NHS, being accessible to everyone at point of need.
I have experience of living with the effects of mental health issues, my mother had bipolar, an understanding of the difficulties of gaining access to acute services when a person is in crisis.
I utilise the 6-core skill toolkit NICCOR (negotiating, influencing, communication, campaigning, organising and representing) to develop strong open communication, partnership working within meetings and I have the ability to disseminate information.
I would like to take the opportunity to be a voice for those without a voice and I believe I can contribute as an effective Governor with EPUT. I have an understanding of integrated care service as a community matron, which puts me in a good position as a new EPUT Governor.
I am a confident person with a good sense of humour.
