Big Weekend of Grab a Jab walk in appointments across MSE and SNEE

This weekend (17 and 18 July) Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) Vaccination Programme have arranged thousands of walk in appointments at their vaccination centres across Mid and South Essex and Suffolk and North East Essex.

In a bid to maximise protection before Covid restrictions are lifted on Monday 19 July, any adult in the east of England can ‘grab-a-jab’ this weekend without having to book an appointment, just by visiting one of EPUT’s 11 vaccination centres across the region.

Across the East of England more than 3.5 million local people have received two doses of COVID vaccine, with more than 8 million doses given in the region overall.

Tiffany Hemming, Director Covid-19 mass vaccination operational delivery for NHS England and NHS Improvement East of England, said: “As we approach 19 July, there has never been a more important time to get your first vaccine; it not only protects you and your family but also your friends and those around you.

“So, while you’re out enjoying the sunshine we are all hoping for this weekend, please do your bit and ‘grab a jab’ too.

“Our staff, volunteers and healthcare colleagues are still working hard to make sure everyone has easy access to this vital protection, so please check your local NHS CCG websites, social media accounts or the national booking system and postcode checker for sites most convenient to you.”

In Mid and South Essex, the vaccination centres, which are open for walk-ins across the weekend from 8am to 8pm, are:

• Alastair Farquharson Centre, Thurrock Community Hospital
• The Lodge, Runwell in Wickford
• The Cliffs Pavilion in Southend on Sea
• Chelmsford City Racecourse
• The Mill Arts and Events Centre, Rayleigh

In Suffolk and North East Essex, the vaccination centres, which are open for walk-ins across the weekend from 10am to 6pm, are:

• Colchester United Football Stadium
• Salvation Army Church, Stowmarket
• Gainsborough Sports Centre, Ipswich
• The Columbine Centre, Walton-on-the-Naze
• Chevington close, Bury St Edmunds
• Clacton Hospital (Saturday only)

Everyone turning up for their first dose must either bring their NHS number with them or alternatively ID with proof of their age, for example a driving licence or passport. If you’re arriving for your second dose, please bring your first dose appointment card with you that shows the vaccine you were given.
