Christmas cheer comes to Clifton Lodge

Residents at Clifton Lodge nursing home in Westcliff-on-Sea have been busy getting into the festive spirit with lots of exciting entertainment taking place this December.

Clifton Lodge, which is run by Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT), provides care for people living with dementia.

On Thursday 5 December, residents were entertained by singer Cheryl and a mix of musical instruments with the performance including a mix of 60’s classics and popular Christmas songs.

Senior Minister Revered Sandie Woolford, Activities Coordinator at Clifton Lodge said: “All the residents were wearing Christmas hats to help get us in the mood for Christmas. There was lots of smiles, foot tapping, and clapping, with a fun hour being had by all.”

The event was the first of Clifton Lodge’s festive Christmas entertainment, with residents enjoying another festive musical performance on Thursday 12 December.

Singer Marcus, the lead singer of tribute band Oasiz, got residents singing non-stop Christmas songs and using musical instruments to get into the spirit of the season, with Christmas hats included.

Sandie said: “There was plenty of dancing from residents who wouldn’t usually join in, and those who were unable to stand and dance were able to have seated dances with staff.

“The event brought smiles to everyone’s faces and gave them something to sing about. The day was full of laughter and interaction between staff and residents.”

These events kick off Clifton Lodge’s Christmas entertainment, with residents looking forward to an upcoming visit by local school Milton Hall School choir who will be singing for the residents.
