Crisis call taker braves skydive for charity
A crisis call taker at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) braved a skydive at 12,000 feet to raise money for a children’s charity close to her heart.
Chloe Spooner jumped out of a plane to raise funds for Aoife’s Bubbles Charity, the UK’s only charity dedicated to fighting childhood Germ Cell Cancer, in memory of her friend’s daughter Aoife Flanagan.
Aoife died in 2019, just days after being diagnosed with Germ Cell Cancer at the age of three.
Aoife’s mum set up Aoife’s Bubbles to raise awareness of the condition, help fund research and support families through their diagnosis and treatment journeys.
Chloe works in EPUT’s Contact Centre which answers calls to the 111 mental health crisis phone line. She completed the sky dive on 29 August and has so far raised £600.
She said: “It was really daunting but such an amazing experience and I am so glad I have been able to raise the money for such a worthwhile cause.
“It was an amazing experience and I can’t thank Aoife’s Bubbles enough for giving me the opportunity to do something I have always wanted to do. If you’re interested in doing something similar, please get in touch with the charity.”
Please visit Chloe’s JustGiving page if you would like to donate to Aoife’s Bubbles.
