EPUT staff recognised for outstanding work at national award ceremony
Our safety lead and one of our nurses have been recognised for their outstanding work at a national awards ceremony.
Prince Adoe won the Rising Star - Excellence in Nursing accolade and Moriam Adekunle received a Special Recognition Award at Zenith Global Health’s Global Health Awards and Summit.
Moriam Adekunle is our Director of Safety and Patient Safety Specialist and is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Florence Nightingale Scholar, with more than 27 years' experience.
She has been at the forefront of enhancing safety and patient care since joining our Trust in 2021.
She said: “The commitment of my Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust team has been pivotal in this achievement, and sharing this moment with them is special.
“At the heart of my journey is the unwavering support of my husband and children.
“Winning this award amidst such talented peers in the NHS and health sector is both humbling and a significant honour.”
Prince works on Gosfield Ward at The Lakes Mental Health Unit in Colchester.
He has developed a training package for mental health nurses to improve their skills and knowledge of physical health care. The training supports our work to ensure patients receive personalised care for all their health needs.
He said: ““It feels really humbling and exciting. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the figures who have been instrumental in my journey, notably Moriam Adekunle, Joan Myers OBE, Jacqueline McCormack and the entire team. To everyone else, I am deeply appreciative. In the words of the Ewes, I say: Akpe kaka (thank you).”
