Family Food First Gives Accreditation to Five Local Nurseries
The Family Food First programme run by South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT) has given accreditation to five local pre-schools and nurseries in Bedfordshire.
Denbigh Pre-School, Downside Pre-School, Pastures Way Nursery, Fun to Learn Nursery and Training Depot Day Nursery in Bedfordshire have all been awarded the Family Food First accreditation promoting healthy lifestyles to children and families.
Family Food First is a programme that runs in nurseries, pre-schools and children’s centres in Luton. Run as part of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service based at Dunstable Health Centre, it aims to encourage best practice, and the promotion of good nutrition, oral health and physical activity. Early year’s settings are able to achieve accreditation on the programme by providing good quality evidence that they are meeting the standards of best practice in the areas of;
- Healthy Policy and Practice
- Food and Health Education
- Food Provision
- Working with Families
- Promoting Healthier Communities
The accreditations of the five early year’s settings have been on-going since January 2016, with the most recent accreditation being awarded this month.
Lisa De’Ath, Public Health Dietitian, said:
“The team have been working with each of the nursery settings over the past year and we would like to thank each of them for all of the hard work they have put in to achieve this status.
“It has been an absolute pleasure working with all of the nurseries and we look forward to continuing their good work in the future.”
