Free Blood Pressure Testing at Community Hospital

RESIDENTS are being invited to have their blood pressure checked free of charge at Saffron Walden Community Hospital on Thursday 25 September 2014.

Nurses from the outpatient department will be in the main corridor of the hospital on 25 September from 09:30 until 4:00 offering free blood pressure tests and information and advice on simple steps to keep blood pressure under control.

This is the sixth annual ‘Know Your Blood Pressure’ event to be held at the Hospital. The aim of the day is to raise awareness of the dangers of high blood pressure, which increases your risk of a heart attack or stroke and can be a contributing factor to vascular dementia. With 1 in 3 adults suffering from high blood pressure, knowing your numbers could save your life.

Melanie Grout, Staff Nurse at Saffron Walden Community Hospital commented: “Around 30% of people in England have high blood pressure but many don't know it. If left untreated, high blood pressure increases your risk of a heart attack or stroke. If we can prevent even one person having a stroke the day will have been worthwhile”
