MEET YOUR CARE IN THE COMMUNITY SEPT NEIGHBOUR
SEPT (South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust) and Southend Community Champions are organising a free event in conjunction with Rooted in Community, Southend Cohesion Week (18th-24th March 2013) to demonstrate new and existing services SEPT provide for the local community.
This is a free community event and is part of Southend Cohesion Week (18 - 24 March 2013) and will be held at Porters, Civic House, Southchurch Road, Southend, SS1 2NE on Friday 22 March, and run from 10.30 - 12.15. Refreshments will be provided and doors open from 10.00.
Short presentations include SEPT’s Rapid Response Team who provide professional nursing care in a patients’ own home when they are experiencing an acute episode of a breathing illness and the Therapy 4 You service, part of the Department of Health’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) initiative which provides counselling for those with anxiety, depression and family difficulties.
Other SEPT teams giving presentations include the End of Life Team that encourages people to talk about their wishes towards the end of their lives including where they want to die and their funeral plans. The Patient Experience Team will also be present to help provide further information and contacts on any of SEPT’s services and the opportunity to ask any questions after each presentation and time for networking at the end.
Malcolm McCann, Executive Director of Integrated Services (Essex and Suffolk) said “It’s important communities realise the full range of services that are available to them. So often people are not aware of the help that’s on offer or how to access services which is why presentations are being given by some of SEPT’s lesser known services but are of huge benefit to the local community”.
Cllr John Lamb, Deputy Leader of Southend Borough Council said “These great events are bringing local people together in an informal environment for enjoyable and positive community conversations, highlighting the many positive local projects and services that exist within Southend. Events like “Meet Your Care in the Community SEPT Neighbour” are providing a new and effective way for individuals and local groups to meet and learn more about the services and the support that organisations like SEPT can provide, and to spread the word throughout the community”.
