Nebulisers Donated in Memory of Canvey Island Couple
Eric & May Murphy’s daughters presented South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust’s (SEPT) Respiratory Service with nebulisers in their memory.
Both Eric and May relied on nebulisers throughout their illnesses: Eric suffering with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD) and May having had treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma of the thyroid gland which left her with a tracheotomy tube.
Lyn Murphy, one of Eric and May’s daughters, said: “Both mum and dad used nebulisers during their illnesses. Mum was provided with a donated nebuliser by SEPT’s Respiratory Service and used it religiously twice a day for 10 years.
“I hope the nebulisers we’ve donated will help other patients as much as they helped mum and dad.”
Eric was treated by the respiratory team until his death in December 2014. A collection at the funeral enabled his daughters to purchase two nebulisers, which will help other COPD sufferers manage their condition.
Gina Logan, Respiratory Nurse, commented: “We are very grateful for the donation. There is always a high demand for nebulisers with the growing numbers of patients suffering from COPD.”
