Overcoming Adversity and Prejudice
South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT) were proud to support Mencap’s Learning Disability Awareness Week yesterday and hosted an event for our Service Users and their carers to celebrate and raise awareness regarding the abilities of people who have a Learning Disability.
Everyone was able to participate in a wide range of fun activities including:
• Music
• Arts and Crafts
• Healthy Living Awareness
• Relaxation Techniques
Terri Dorman – SEPT Services for People who have a Learning Disability, Clinical Group Manager said: “ It was a great event and we all enjoyed the sunshine as we focussed on what people can do, not their disability and encouraged everyone to find ways to express their own individuality in many creative ways. We had live music from ‘1st Note’, lots of people came and great fun was had by all.”
The event was organised by the innovative Specialist Healthcare Services provided to people who have a Learning Disability within Bedfordshire and Luton.
