Runner raises £425 for Alzheimer's Society

One of our psychiatry trainees has raised £425 for the Alzheimer’s Society by completing the Hackney Half Marathon.

Olufemi Talabi chose the charity because of his experience training in two of our wards for older adults and our memory clinics in Southend.

Olufemi, who aims to become a consultant in old age psychiatry, said: “I really love and respect what the charity does for people living with dementia.

“I think my interest in caring for older people stems from my background as I spent a bit of time with my grandmother as a child.

“I am really grateful for the care, mentorship and wisdom I received from her.

“I believe that older people are such an important part of our society and I will like to be part of improving the care and support available to them.”

His fundraising page can be found on the JustGiving website.

The marathon was held on 21 May.
