SEPT BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING (4)

South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT) is holding a public meeting of the Board of Directors at 11:00 on Wednesday 29 January 2014 at Little Havens Children’s Hospice, Daws Heath, Thundersley, Essex, SS7 2LH.

The agenda includes a presentation on two psychology pilots in south east Essex which have achieved fantastic half year results. The pilots which have been set up to provide psychological support to Stroke and COPD sufferers and their families have resulted in decreased hospital admissions, reduced reliance on antidepressants and have realised a cost saving of nearly £450,000 to the local health economy. Most importantly however is that there has been a significant positive change in the level of anxiety and depression suffered by the patients and a positive perception of their recovery.

SEPT is one of the largest and most successful NHS providers in the country of integrated care including mental health, learning disability, social care and community services. As an NHS Foundation Trust, SEPT is run locally, not by Government, and must work closely with the local community to develop services in a way that best suits the needs of local people.

Anyone who lives in Essex, Bedfordshire or Luton or Suffolk and is over the age of 12 is eligible to become a member of the Trust. You can join by calling the membership office free on 0800 023 2059 or by logging on to www.sept.nhs.uk
