SEPT SHORTLISTED IN CARE INTEGRATION AWARDS
South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT) has been shortlisted in the cancer care category of the Care Integration Awards 2013; celebrating and recognising health services that provide high-quality, effective and seamless care to patents.
SEPT is shortlisted for its nurse led prostate cancer care telephone consultation service which supports prostate patients to cope with the long term effects of treatment. The integration of the service with hospital colleagues ensures that patients receive seamless care for their prostate cancer whether attending hospital to see a Consultant or receiving telephone consultations with a specialist nurse.
The availability of the telephone consultation service provides more convenient access to support and advice for patients, reducing the need to travel to hospital appointments. And in turn frees up hospital out-patient appointments for those patients needing to be seen for an acute problem.
SEPT Chief Executive, Dr Patrick Geoghegan, OBE, said “The Trust continues to go from strength to strength and I’m delighted we have been shortlisted in the Care Integration Awards for a service that demonstrates the value of integrated working”.
