Singer's emotional gig for care home residents
Thank you to singer Sue Sawyer, who entertained residents at Clifton Lodge care home in Westcliff for Valentine's Day.
Sue has performed in care homes alongside her other gigs on and off for about 15 years, and has also performed as part of a duo.
She said: “My mother was in a care home for nearly eight years and after she died I didn’t feel I could do them for a while but after a couple of years I felt able to do them again.
“Clifton Lodge was my first solo care home performance since she died. It was quite emotional but lovely, especially seeing the reactions from the residents to certain songs. I really enjoyed it.”
Sue sang a variety of songs from the 1960s and 1970s, as well as musical theatre and films.
There was plenty of singing and dancing along and all the residents had a lovely time.
Clifton Lodge is one of two care homes managed by Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and looks after people with dementia.
Staff organise a regular programme of events and entertainment for the residents, including music and pet therapy visits.
