Take a virtual tour of St Aubyn Centre adolescent inpatient unit

Young patients can now take a virtual online tour of an adolescent mental health inpatient ward in Colchester.

Patients are not able to visit the St Aubyn Centre in Colchester before being admitted so Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust has created a video to help give young people and their loved ones an idea of what to expect.

The 360 degree video on the Trust’s website aims to help ease any concerns before patients arrive at one of the centres two wards, Larkwood and Longview.

Patients and their families can navigate their way through the St Aubyn Centre to see what the bedrooms and classrooms look like and take a tour of activity areas, including the gym and basketball court.

Andy Brogan, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive, said: “We want to make the transition for patients and their families as easy as possible. We are pleased to be able to help alleviate some of their worries by giving them the opportunity to take a virtual tour of St Aubyn Centre.”

The St. Aubyn Centre provides care for young people between the ages of 13 and 18 who are experiencing acute, complex and/or severe mental health, emotional and psychological problems.
