Therapy for You service now available in north east Essex

A service for adults in need of mental health support is now being provided across north east Essex by Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT).

Therapy for You (IAPT), provides free counselling and psychological therapy for people aged 16 and over experiencing depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and specific phobias.

Paul Scott, Chief Executive of EPUT, said: “The events of the last 12 months have been challenging for everyone. Therapy for You (IAPT) allows people to access specialist therapy when they need it most in a way that suits them best.”

Therapy for You (IAPT) is an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies service which aims to help people better manage their mental health. EPUT has been delivering IAPT services in south-east Essex since 2009 and has now taken over as provider of IAPT services in Colchester and Tendring.

Therapy for You (IAPT) launches in partnership with mental health charity Mind and Ieso Digital Health, a company providing confidential online therapy. It offers therapy in person, online, by phone or video call as well as group therapy sessions and online courses.

Members of the public can access Therapy for You (IAPT) by calling 01206 334001 or visiting www.therapyforyou.co.uk. They can also speak to their GP about a referral to the service.

James McQuiggan, Chief Executive of Mid & North East Essex Mind, said: “As we come out of what has been a particularly difficult year due to COVID-19 and the restrictions that have been placed on us, services such like Therapy for You (IAPT) will play an important part in supporting people’s mental health and wellbeing.”

James de Bathe, Director of Partnerships and Market Development at Ieso Digital Health, said: “We are very pleased to be extending our partnership with EPUT in north east Essex. At a time when people need choice and easy access to high quality treatment it’s crucial to work closely with NHS services by providing confidential online therapies.”
