YOUNG PEOPLE GET GOLD STANDARD HEALTH SERVICE

Young people in South Essex are accessing some of the best health services in the country.

The Contraception and Sexual Health Service (CaSH)  in south east Essex provided by South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT) has been given the gold seal of approval by achieving the Department of Health (DH) criteria for demonstrating they provide young people friendly services

The service has been awarded the DH's prestigious You're Welcome accreditation for providing services that are young people friendly and have been developed with input from young people.

Young people accessing the CaSH service can receive confidential advice and support and signposting to other services if required.

It took CaSH over a year to complete their accreditation, during which time they had to demonstrate they provide services that improve accessibility, choice and quality of services for young people.

SEPT Chief Executive Dr Patrick Geoghegan OBE said: "Young people tell us they want to access health services in a place where they feel comfortable. This is great news and recognises the work and commitment of our services to make it easier for people to get the advice they need. The ‘You’re Welcome’ guidelines reinforce young people’s social responsibility as life-long users of the NHS to share in decision made about their own health, how they access services and are involved in evaluation of their own patient experience”.
