Cancer Information and Support, West Essex

Summary

West Essex Macmillan Cancer Support and Information Service has been developed as a joint venture between Macmillan Cancer Support and EPUT.

We help patients, families and caregivers find useful information about cancer. How to prevent it and details about local support services.

Service Information

We provide current help and advice about emotional, money and day-to-day matters for people dealing with cancer. We can help in person, by phone or email. Information comes in different formats to suit your needs. We can help you get support like benefits advice, blue badges, and connect you with local NHS, council and charity services. We can also put you in touch with local services that support your care and wellbeing.

We have an advice line, 01279 698673, which is open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 2.30pm. There is an answer phone for out of hours calls. The advice line is manned by experienced staff who are able to take requests for help and support, provide information or signpost/refer onto other agencies.

Emotional support

We offer the Macmillan HOPE course. This helps people who have finished cancer treatment or are living with cancer. The course teaches you simple ways to handle cancer side effects, support mental health, and help people move forward in life.

We offer friendship visits to cancer patients at home who want regular company. Our trained volunteers provide this support.
