Cardiac Rehabilitation is an an education and physical activity programme, aiming to help you achieve the best possible physical and emotional recovery following your cardiac event / intervention.
Service Information
Research has shown that by attending cardiac rehabilitation activity and education you can expect to recover sooner and reduce your risk of having further heart problems.
Our aim is to provide a FREE friendly, informative, supportive and a varied programme to help you return to a normal, safe and active life.
Who is the service for?
Patients who have had:
- A heart attack
- Heart surgery
- Angioplasty (stents)
- Heart Failure ( Left Ventricular Systolic Dysfunction)
The eight week programme
The cardiac rehabilitation programme takes place over 8 weeks and consists of the following:
- Initial assessment:
- Blood pressure checks
- Functional fitness assessment
- Physical activity – 6 weeks
- Virtual cardiac rehabilitation
- Home programme
- My Heart App – digital support
- British Heart Foundation DVD / YouTube video links
- Future integration:
- Face to Face group exercise sessions
- Walking group
- Education – 6 Weeks
- 1 hour live virtual interactive session
- Final Assessment
Referral Information
To enrol on the cardiac rehabilitation programme a cardiac nurse in the hospital setting will send us your details, you will be contacted by our administration team to book an initial assessment.
