Time to Care
Our Time to Care programme is transforming how we deliver mental health inpatient services to ensure every patient receives high quality personalised care to support their long term recovery.
We have worked with patients, staff and partners to create a new model of care based on learning from the past and the latest national and international expert guidance for best practice.
A new staffing model has been designed to broaden the range of skilled staff working on our wards so we can enhance the personalised care and therapeutic activities we offer to ensure patients receive wraparound support.
We are recruiting for 336 clinical and non-clinical posts, including nurses, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, activity co-coordinators, family and carer ambassadors, peer support workers and occupational therapists.
In addition, we have redesigned our clinical operating model for acute inpatient care which will ensure we are providing people with the most complex and acute needs a high quality standard of care in the right place and at the right time.
In line with the latest NHS England guidance and clinical best practice, people will only be admitted to our wards if the care they need can only be provided in hospital and there is a clear purpose and therapeutic benefit.
Every patient, along with their families and carers, will be involved decision-making about the treatment, therapies and support they receive and have a clear plan for their care during their admission, and after discharge.
Our inpatient and community mental health teams will work closely with patients, their families, and other health and social care organisations to ensure people have the support they need after they leave our wards.
We will also ensure our care takes into consideration how traumatic events affect a person’s behaviour and health, so that we can best support them in their recovery.
Time to Care is a five-year programme and is part of our ongoing work to continuously transform our services and provide the best possible care for our patients.
